INSURANCE:
If you have insurance, determine if the dentist participates in your insurance program.
If you do not have insurance, determine what fee schedule the dentist uses for common procedures.
REFERENCES:
Talk to references. Are there other patients out there that have had a positive or negative experience
with the dentist? Word of mouth is a very powerful indicator of quality.
Try also using Google to identity dentist rating sites. Is the dentist listed and how are the ratings?
COMMUNICATION:
Determine how well the dentist communicates. One of the most important pieces of dentistry
is being able to effectively communicate treatment recommendations and alternatives.
THE STAFF:
Interview the team to see if they are friendly and helpful. When you select
a dentist, you also are selecting the front desk people. Speak with them and
try to gauge if they are courteous and helpful.
THE OFFICE:
Is the office comfortable and up-to-date? When you walk in the door, is the office soothing
and comfortable? Ask the doctor about the technologies that they use. Are they current?
Are they using digital radiography (computerized x-rays), laser dentistry or other new techniques and technologies?
