Periodontics
Gum disease, also known as periodontal ('pe-ree-oh-don-tal')
disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss in adults.
It is a painless infection of the tissues that surround the
teeth, caused by plaque buildup on the teeth both above and
below the gum line.
Our dentists have a great deal of experience in dealing with
gum disease in its early, reversible stages (gingivitis) and
more serious later stages (periodontitis). Professional
cleaning by one of our dentists will remove the bacteria that
cause gum disease. We will also work with you to identify a
dental health regimen which will keep plaque buildup and
resulting gum infections to a minimum.
